Dear Ashley Families,

We are working on a plan to return as many students as possible to in person learning. Grade levels are being phased in slowly as space and staff allow. There is no guarantee that all students will be able to return to five days per week in person learning; due to lack of space or staff, some students/grades may have to remain hybrid. Your grade level team will keep you informed about your child’s return date as soon as plans are finalized for that grade.

Please note, we will continue to follow safety protocols like masking and social distancing. To accommodate these protocols, we may have to make some changes in classroom assignments for a small number of students. Parents will be informed if the change affects their student.

Below are answers to some anticipated questions:

1. When will my child return to in-person learning 5 days per week?

Grade levels will be phased in over the next several weeks as space and staffing allow. Some grades may have to remain hybrid until safety protocols change. Your child’s teacher will communicate as plans are finalized for that grade.

2. My child is considered a close contact and due to a COVID-19 related issue and cannot attend in-person learning for 14 days. If your child is well enough, your child can complete assigned work on Google Classroom or teacher created assignments. Once those assignments are turned in, your child will be considered constructively present, not absent, for his or her time out.

3. Who do I contact if my child is in Cohort D and wants to transition to in-person learning? Call the office of your child’s “home” school, which would be the neighborhood school your child attended in person prior to becoming a full distance learner. Your child will be placed on a list. The decision to transition your child to in-person will be made at the district and building level based on space availability. Your child should continue to receive instruction from their teacher, virtually until otherwise notified. Due to high numbers in some grades, Cohort D students may not be able to return to in person until guidelines change.

4. What happens if my child was on the waiting list for Cohort D (Distance) or I am not comfortable with my child attending in person 5 days per week? If your child is not already on the waiting list for Cohort D, please contact Mrs. Rebelo and make that request. If your child is already on the list, he/she will eventually be assigned to a Cohort D teacher who will be from another school as Ashley does not currently have any Cohort D classes. Until your child is assigned to Cohort D, they should continue to complete work assigned by their current teacher.

5. None of the above options will work for my family, and I would like to Homeschool my child. Who do I contact? Please contact the Office of Instruction 508-997-4511 ext. 14150

Message from Principal Pugliese

Message from principal

Welcome to the Ashley Elementary School website. I have enjoyed my role as Principal for the past five years and look forward to many more years at Ashley. My staff and I have a great relationship with students, parents, and the community. We strive to have a positive impact on the lives of every one of our families every day. My vision for Ashley is to continue to provide a school environment that meets the academic, social, and emotional needs of all our students. Each student is unique, and it is our goal to find ways to keep everyone engaged and challenged. Here at Ashley, we promote good citizenship through R.O.A.R which stands for Respect, Ownership, Actions and Responsibility. Charlie the tiger is our mascot and he dresses up and attends events to the delight of Ashley students.
